Things to do in Scarborough
There is an unlimited number of things to do in Scarborough. Here are just a few of the attractions:
THINGS TO DO - DAYTIME
The Sands - The apartment is right above the sands of the North Bay beach.
Sealife Centre - Aquarium complex with talks and feeding-time shows.
The Harbour - Boat trips and the South Bay seafront with amusement arcades and places to eat.
Cliff Walks - The Cleveland Way footpath follows the clifftops North and South.
Beach Walks - The flat is minutes from the promenade and you can easily access the South Beach.
The Castle - National Heritage site with museum and café.
Surfing Lessons - "Dexters” offer surfing tuition or hourly kit hire.
Speedboat Trips - Short rides on a powerful jetfoil speedboat, from the harbour.
Skateboard Park - Have a go or just sit and watch on North bay below the Castle cliff.
Peasholm Park - Chinese themed municipal park, hosts summer events and shows - a Yorkshire treasure.
Miniature Railway - A light gauge passenger steam train runs along the seafron.
Waterpark - Alpamare has indoor and outdoor swimming pools, water slides, plus a spa/sauna for luxury pampering.
Cricket - the flat looks out on to the famous North Marine Road cricket ground which hosts Local and county cricket games.
THINGS TO DO – EVENING
Cinema - Cinema is 100 yards away at the end of North Marine Road.
Theatre - Stephen Joseph Theatre, home of Alan Ayckbourn, is excellent - theatre, shows and films.
Open Air Concerts - Open Air Arena hosts big-name bands and is ten minutes’ walk.
THINGS TO DO – DAYS OUT
Sea Fishing - Fishing boat trips out to sea from the harbour aren’t expensive.
Cayton Bay - Isolated beach. Soft white sand. Inaccessible by car. Surfers love it.
Betton Farm - Petting Zoo for children, ten minutes’ drive, East Ayton on the A170
Filey - Good beaches and plenty to do for children along the seafront.
It takes about three hours to walk there by the Clevland Way and has regular bus and train links.
Robin Hoods Bay - Beautiful little fishing village at the bottom of a steep cobbled hill.
Whitby - Pretty fishing town, half an hour away by car.
